Sharp Box (or sharps container) is a polypropylene plastic container that is used to safely dispose of hypodermic needles and other sharp medical instruments, such as vacutainer and disposable scalpels. They are usually red/yellow color and marked with the universal biohazard symbol for easy recognition. Sharps waste is loaded into the container until it reaches the limit line, then the sharps box is emptied or disposed of.
